10 Million Shorts Views in 90 Days

Right now (through Jan 31, 2027)

To join YPP through Shorts, you need 1,000 subscribers and 10M qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days (YPP overview). A view only counts if it’s on a public Short in the Shorts feed. Image posts and ad campaigns don’t count.

From Feb 1, 2027 (confirmed)

  1. New applicants need 20M qualified Shorts views in 90 days (Help).
  2. 10M becomes an earning bar. Every YPP channel needs 10M qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days to get Shorts ad and subscription revenue. If you drop below it, you stay in YPP and keep long-form earnings, and Shorts revenue turns back on automatically when you cross 10M again (Blog).
  3. YouTube says it will offer incentive programs for channels under 10M, but it hasn’t shared details yet (“We’ll share more details soon”) (Blog). Treat any specifics you see elsewhere as unconfirmed.

FAQ

Does 10M work out to about 111K views a day? Yes. 10,000,000 ÷ 90 ≈ 111,111 per day. Do Shorts views count toward watch hours? No (source).
