Rejected or demonetized for reused content?

A reused content YouTube monetization appeal is a request that YouTube reconsider a YouTube Partner Program rejection or suspension. The notes below follow YouTube's own Help pages. This site does not file the appeal, and it does not decide whether a channel qualifies.

Reused content

YouTube describes reused content as a channel that repurposes material already on YouTube or another site without adding significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value. Reviewers look at the channel as a whole, including videos, the channel description, titles, and video descriptions. If they cannot tell that you made the content, monetization may be removed from the entire channel. The check is separate from copyright: a channel can have no copyright claims and still fail it. Permission from the original creator does not, by itself, make the content eligible. YouTube Help: channel monetization policies.

Inauthentic content

On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed its repetitious-content guideline to inauthentic content and said the change clarifies that repetitive or mass-produced content has always been ineligible. Examples YouTube lists as not allowed under that guideline include similar videos with minimal variation, the same situation and outcome repeated across videos, image slideshows or scrolling text with little narrative, commentary, or educational value, and AI-generated videos made from generic templates that do not add the creator's own insight. YouTube says this rename did not change the reused-content policy. YouTube Help: channel monetization policies.

If you believe a suspension or application rejection was wrong, YouTube lets you appeal with an unlisted video or through Creator Support in YouTube Studio. YouTube says its teams respond within 14 days. A channel that is already suspended must appeal within 21 days of the suspension. A channel that was only warned of a scheduled suspension has 7 days to appeal before that date. Do not delete videos before you appeal. YouTube reviews the channel in its current state. If that appeal is rejected, YouTube says you can reapply 90 days after the suspension or application rejection date. YouTube Help: appeal a YPP suspension or rejection.

YouTube's rules for that appeal video: video only, with no appeal info in the description, under 5 minutes, unlisted, a new upload on the channel you are appealing, and narrated in a language YouTube lists or with English subtitles that are not auto-generated. Include the channel URL in the first 30 seconds, address specific program policies with examples from the channel as a whole, and show how the content was filmed or edited. Then upload it from YouTube Studio, open Earn, start the appeal, and submit the video URL. YouTube Help.

A first rejection email uses a different clock if you have not appealed: reapply 30 days after that email, or 90 days if this is not your first rejection or you have reapplied before. You can still appeal within 21 days. YouTube Help: rejected for monetization.

How to remove reused content on YouTube

There is no separate YouTube control labeled "remove reused content." YouTube's rejection FAQ says to read the rejection email, compare your videos, titles, descriptions, thumbnails, and tags with the monetization policies and Community Guidelines, then edit or delete videos that violate those policies before you apply again. YouTube does not promise that those edits will lead to approval. If an appeal is still open, leave the videos up until that review finishes, then edit or delete before a later application. A suspended channel gets the same kind of instruction in Earn: read the policy, review the videos, then edit or delete the ones that violate the policies. Reapplying after February 1, 2027

Starting February 1, 2027, YouTube says new Partner Program applicants need 1,000 subscribers and either 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. Creators who are already in the program are not moved out by that threshold change. YouTube Help: changes to YPP.

YouTube has not confirmed whether reapplying after Feb 1, 2027 requires the new 8,000-hour bar. The Help pages linked here do not say which watch-hour threshold applies to a channel that was rejected or demonetized for reused content and applies again after that date.
